Performance is measured by the number of times that a specific type of instruction is executed per second. This number is known as the CPW rate and it allows us to establish comparisons between different machines and models. This rate can make reference to the capacity of interactive type instructions executed , Interactive CPW, or, to the capacity of
any kind of instructions (interactive, batch and others) executed, making up the Total CPW.

A 520-7450 model has a 30 Interactive CPW rating whilst its Total CPW is 500.
With GoFaster, Interactive CPW ranks itself to the same level as Total CPW, which in most cases means a many times increase on its IBM pre-set value.  In the previous example,
the increase on Interactive CPW is 17 times the “restricted” value on CPW; in other words,
it increases from 30 to 500 CPW.

Increasing this value via a hardware change or upgrade involves one of the following: addition of interactive cards; change of processor and/or change of model. This often means an increase to the Software Group, which at the same time has repercussions on the maintenance costs of your contracted and own software, as well as increasing its price.

The model mentioned above, a 520- 7450 with interactive CPW of 30, cannot be improved unless we change to a better model like the 520-7451, with which, the Interactive CPW can reach 60, though its total CPW would also need to be increased to 1.000 as part of the upgrade - involving a change of Software Group from P05 to group P10. We can now clearly see, that if we have a (*) 520-7450 model, with a Interactive CPW of 30 and we want to have an Interactive CPW of 60, we should upgrade our model  520-7450 to a (**) 520-7451 model, with an Interactive CPW of 60. The manufacturer gives us no other choice. If we need more interactive CPW the only alternative we have is to access more expensive models which will still have their interactive capacity limited by the manufacturer. However, using GoFaster you can simply enhance your Interactive CPW to the 500 rating, which is the Total CPW of the model 520-7450. And at less cost.
